Saddleback Church

Graphic Designer Intern

May - August 2021 • Lake Forest, CA

What I liked

I got to work with a creative team and different graphic designers. I loved the Christ-centered community and purpose behind all that they did.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could have been there in person. My internship was remote.

Advice

I would say to communicate clearly with your employer and set a schedule from the start.

Student Ministries Intern

May 2019 • Irvine, CA

What I liked

I loved the fact that I got to get hands-on experiences on how to run a ministry, specifically targeted for youth students (from 6th to 12th grade). I got to learn how to plan and prep for events that promote community engagement, how to engage in teamwork with people, and how to be an effective leader in general.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more of an opportunity to collaborate with other ministries/staff members of our church campus to increase impact.

Advice

Be prepared to be Fast, Fluid, and Flexible. And be willing to step out of your comfort zone and willing to talk to many people. Bring a fun and positive mindset, and you’ll have and amazing time!

Saddleback Student Ministries Intern (Anaheim)

May - August 2018 • Anaheim, CA

What I liked

I loved getting to spend time with Jr. Highers and High Schoolers weekly and getting to love on them. It was a blessing getting to start relationships with them and also building on those relationships.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time. There were times in which I remembered that I didn’t love the students as best as I could so I wish I could go back and redo those moments or get that time back.

Advice

I would say that if you want to do this internship properly, it’s all about self-sacrifice. Everything you do in this ministry is for the students. Because of someone’s love for God, this should be the result of their love for God; to serve the students whole heartedly.
