Merchandiser

May - August 2021 • Port Huron, MI

What I liked

I liked that Sam's was very relaxed and that you were given a job before you were punched in and then had 8 hours to complete your task. The team was very friendly and everyone was willing to help when needed

What I wish was different

Being that I was part time it was not easy to get time off, weekends are extremely busy at Sam's so weekends were a must. I worked from 3-11:30 and although I lived at home with my parents I never seen them during the week because of my schedule being that I am a family oriented person this bothered me.

Advice

If you struggle lifting or pulling heavy objects this is not the job for you.

What I liked

The atmosphere between other employees. Everyone is really friendly and willing to help.

What I wish was different

I wish we had more training as to what our expectations are for each shift as well as more people helping each department.

Advice

Apply before school starts, that way you can start working with hours they prefer and switch to ones that work for you once school starts.

Frontline Cashier

June - August 2021 • Vernon Hills, IL

What I liked

I liked being able to work with a variety of people as a team and accommodating members with their various needs. I enjoyed interacting with both members and coworkers and learning from their personal experience. Working there felt like a team effort; other employees valued you being there and were welcoming.

What I wish was different

I wish the hours were more flexible and that I did not have to be in different departments do to the store being short staffed. It was sometimes tedious to be pulled from the register to do carts outside.

Advice

Be open to try something new and learn from what other people have to say.

Frontline Cashier

June - August 2021 • Vernon Hills, IL

What I liked

I liked accommodating members with their various needs. I enjoyed working with a variety of people who all had different experiences. The other employees at my location are welcoming and very nice to new people. I also liked working with the staff who have been there for a while since they gave the most advice.

What I wish was different

I wish hours were more flexible. I also wish that I did not have to go to different departments to help out due to short staff. It was sometimes difficult to go back and forth from being at the register or help desk to doing carts outside.

Advice

Be open to learning from other people. The best advice can be given from people who have experienced life in a different way than what you have.
