This internship was a very positive, rewarding experience for me. I had the chance to research numerous grants and prepare applications to earn funding for the farm. I learned so much about the worlds of sustainable farming and grant writing, including how many opportunities are out there for small businesses. In addition to my grant writing duties, I got to help with many other important tasks, like developing a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and creating a farm tour experience.
It was wonderful to work with Alejandro, as he is an extremely kind, smart and helpful person. I learned countless business and communication skills from him that will continue to serve me in my professional life. Although this internship was remote, I even got to visit the urban farm in Miami and harvest produce with my own hands. Overall, I loved getting to contribute to the farm's mission of helping the community in an eco-friendly way.

I would encourage future interns to research, read and learn as much as you can in this position. Alejandro has a lot of business knowledge and experience, so ask questions when you have them. You can also research online to discover information about farming--there are so many websites and resources out there on the topic. Mainly, your success is going to depend on your effort and attitude, so just try your best and stay open-minded.
