Waterford.org

Outreach and Registration Intern

June - August 2019 • Taylorsville, UT

What I liked

My experience at Waterford.org was full of new experiences. We were able to travel all around the Salt Lake Valley and Utah as a whole to register children for the program which meant I was able to be around different cultures and experiences. My supervisors and coworkers were always welcoming and willing to help train and assist me in any way I needed. It was amazing to say the least.

What I wish was different

It was an amazing company to work for. Therefore, its difficult to really point out what I would wish was different. If one thing could be different, I would hope the positions and program would be a little more organizational to make everything run more smoothly.

Advice

Work hard, be efficient, and have creative solutions to obtaining registrations and this job won't even feel like one.

Events intern

June - August 2019 • Taylorsville, UT

What I liked

I loved that I got to travel to different cities everyday. The per diem they gave us for lunch was fantastic too.

What I wish was different

I wish the company had it together. It was a mess half the time and a frustrating struggle the other half.

Advice

Have a lot of patience but don’t expect things to get better.

Advice

The advice I would give would be to go out of your way to stay healthy because there isn't a lot of personal time and it is easy to eat out too much

UPSTART Intern

June - August 2018 • Taylorsville, UT

What I liked

It was a great job for my education major because we promoted a free pre-k reading program and worked with children and their parents! I loved how many hours were available (I was very busy!) and that it was only a summer job so it was doable with my school schedule. They pay well and give you per diem for meals and provide hotels when you travel. My coworkers were great and we got to travel the state of Utah while doing our job! It was fun.

What I wish was different

The only inconvenience of this job is that the headquarters are in Taylorsville, and that is where we were required to arrive every morning.

Advice

Be prepared for long days, lots of hours, dealing with 4 year olds, and driving a 12 passenger van.
