Wells Fargo

Analyst (Investment Banking)

June - August 2018 • Charlotte, NC

What I liked

It was an extremely challenging and rewarding experience. I was pushed harder than any of my prior internships and allowed me to develop both my hard and soft skills.

What I wish was different

Some of the other interns in my group were difficult to work with, but it was a minor factor.

Advice

The hours are long, but they aren't as bad as they appear on paper and what you're able to learn makes it worth it.

Sales and Trading Intern

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The people were great and the program was set up in a way that you were very hands-on for a sales and trading role. There were also many opportunities to network with people around the firm and get exposure to any group that you were interested in. As a rotational program, they also take into consideration what desks you prefer and where they think you will excel, making the process in general very smooth and allows you to stay interested in what you were doing.

What I wish was different

Nothing. Overall, a great experience.

Advice

Make sure that you are proactive in networking and building your network both before, during and after the internship.

Consumer Lending Intern

June - August 2019 • Des Moines, IA

What I liked

Everyone was incredibly welcoming. People are happy to help and want you to succeed. There was a lot of freedom to go and learn what you wanted to.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more opportunities to work with people in the field I'm interested in. You don't get a say on where you are placed, its more whoever requests an intern that's where you go

Advice

Take the initiative for your own success. Ask people how you can help and work on building your network.

May 2019 • Tampa, FL

What I liked

I like that I have been able to work in a financial environment, and I have learned a lot about the flow of money. Seeing as my major is finance, I think that starting off small in a commercial bank will help prepare me for whatever career I seek in the future.

What I wish was different

The training process felt strenuous, but I was also taking three summer classes at the same time, so I was a bit stressed. However, I liked the challenge and I feel like I embraced my hidden strengths.

Advice

Take your time with learning something unfamiliar. Be patient with yourself and your work. That's what leads to success.

Bank Teller

December 2015 • Yuma, AZ

What I liked

I like the professional environment. It is different from any other typical job you have in your early years of employment. I also liked how they did the most they could to go around my school schedule. They also pay their employees well so you can afford your bills.

What I wish was different

I wish Wells Fargo would have been more flexible with their hours for school. They did great, but sometimes I had to worry whether I would miss a school day or not. They aren't at fault because they typically close at 6 or 7 so you had to make your hours somewhere.

Advice

Time management is essential to have this type job and school as well as having a limited selection of classes. For example, I could only get classes two days out of the week. If I needed more, I would have had to work and miss classes. Online classes is also another option if you do not mind.
