Working with kids and building relationships, witnessing many accomplishments
What I wish was different
Feeling confident for my first shift alone.
Advice
Really get to know your client. The data and paperwork will naturally come to you, but most importantly start building the relationship and pairing with your client.

Great hours and awesome people
What I wish was different

Advice
Be patient and flexible. They’re receptive to any problems you have with families or clients, so be honest. If you think you might be likely to snap on a kid who’s being annoying, not for you!

Autism Behavioral Technician
May - August 2019 • Green Bay, WI
What I liked
I liked that during this job I was able to make connections with kids who are on the autism spectrum, and it gave me the experience of working with children with disabilities, as that will help me as I am going to school right now for education. I really enjoyed being able to see my clients working towards a skill and then being able to master it by the end of the time I was able to spend with them.
What I wish was different
Some things that I wish I could have done different is that I would have gotten to spend more time with my clients and would have been able to spend more time with the clients who needed the more therapy, who were lower on the spectrum. I would also have liked to be able to work with more clients.
Advice
My best advice I can give to anyone who is thinking about a career with working with kids with autism is to do it! It is the most rewarding job that anyone can have, everyday the kids are excited to see you and its the best feeling when you can have one of your clients master a certain program or skill.
