I love the fast paced environment and the satisfaction of being able to share my knowledge of body care and home fragrance with customers. It is so gratifying to be able to put my own personal knowledge to a practical use to help people find the perfect products or gifts.
What I wish was different
As with all customer service jobs, I wish there were not so many customers who are difficult to deal with.
Advice
It's not easy to get into the habit of selling, but you just have to remember that the easiest way to get started is to put yourself out there! It's okay to make mistakes and more often than not, customers won't remember if you get nervous and say something a little awkwardly.

What I liked
I loved being able to engage with customers and working alongside some very strong, intelligent business women. I learned a lot about being an employee and what it takes to make sales on and off the floor, as well as how that then translates to the business in general.
What I wish was different
I wish I would have been able to work more/longer. I really enjoyed this job and the people that I was learning from. I wish I would have been able to learn longer, but luckily for me, I will be returning to Bath and Body works over winter break.
Advice
My piece of advice would be to not be afraid to let go and really immerse yourself into a job. Ask questions, listen to your advisors/employees and learn something new every day. One of the only reasons why I loved this job so much is because I am constantly growing and learning in ways I never thought that I would.

The scheduling was horrible. I was completely available 6 days of the week, and had several weeks in which I only got scheduled to work 3 hours. There were several occasions when my shift got cancelled just hours before it was supposed to happen or my shift was cut short while I was there and I was sent home early for reasons that were not my fault.

Speak up EARLY if you have a problem.

I loved working for a larger company that focused on intern development! As well, I enjoyed the field itself, and think anybody who is creative but also statistical would like Merchandise Planning
What I wish was different
I wish I had a more involved director/mentor. I had a hard time building a long-lasting, meaningful relationship with him, and he is now no longer at the company as well.

GO ABOVE AND BEYOND! As exhausting as some long days were, I was grateful for the recognition and experiences I received.

Set time of when to work. I wish they wouldn’t constantly call me in instead I wish they’d put me on the schedule that way I wouldn’t make plans.

I like being able to interact with people. Being challenged to make a customer talk and buy something from me. It made me proud to see my sales per hour was higher than most of my coworkers.I also enjoyed meeting new people and finding out a little about them.

All the call ins they do. I feel bad when they call to see if I can come in, and I already have other plans.
Advice
Don’t be afraid to ask for help! There are so many different ways to approach a customer, and so many ways to get different things done. It’s always nice to hear how one of my coworkers does things and I can improve on my own skills.
