I wish that I could have worked more. Individuals were hired at such an increased rate that some of the hours were decreased for others.

Advice

A great first job, or even a part time job for someone in school. You learn great leadership qualities & concepts for later on in life.

As with all jobs working with the public, one always wishes people would put things back where they found them, or just be more pleasant in general. Though, this only applies to the bad customers who usually are a minority of the shopping populace.

The people there were super nice, and they really work around your schedule. I am able to return back to work when I’m not in school, and they even gave me the option to transfer to a store that was closer to me when I am in school!

Super friendly management and team. Encouraged me to learn retail even though I had no prior experience. Flexible hours, accommodating to my school schedule and making sure I prioritize school before work.

What I liked

Allowed me to place myself into the business world of retail. Worked in different departments and was able to recognize the different operations within the TJ Maxx company. Learned more about the TJX company as a whole as well as their values and goals. Friendly environment that welcomes everyone. Great communication not only within the company but as well as with our loyal customers.

What I wish was different

Scheduling, as I am a part time commuting student. Personally I wish I had more time to work rather than having to shift my schedule so much due to classes and class responsibilities.

Advice

I have worked in the food & beverage industry as well as in housekeeping for most of my youth, and have always been nervous to try retail as you always hear horror stories about it all. Working in retail has actually been one of the most valuable experiences I have partaken in as I am not only growing as a person within my confidence by continuously talking to customers and associates but I am learning the ropes of how to operate and manage a business as it is a career I am looking at within my business major.
