I liked the new experience. I had worked in a different department before and was able to train in bakery over the summer.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had better knowledge as to what the job would be. I wasn't sure what to expect, so it made it difficult at first to get adjusted.
Advice
Some advice would be to take a chance to try something new. At first I was worried about stepping out of my comfort zone, but it paid off in the end.

What I liked
I liked meeting new people everyday, and getting to know customers. Learning about the products in my department was very interesting and it was helpful to both myself and the customers to be able to tell them about products they were interested in.
What I wish was different
I wish that I would taken an advantage to do an internship or help out with a new store opening. Cross-training into a new department would have been cool too.
Advice
Don't work here if you're not a social person, you engage with a variety of people on a daily basis.

Data Management Intern
January - June 2018 • Rochester, NY
What I liked
The Wegmans family was amazing. Every person that I came across loved their job and the work they were doing. I felt the same way when I was there. Everyone welcomed me to the place and treated me like we were just really good friends. My Manager and Boss were extremely helpful in fostering a professional environment.
What I wish was different
While it was such a family atmosphere, sometimes that took away from the actual work. People didn't want to tell other employees to get stuff done to disrupt that good family atmosphere which made for super super long deadlines that made me actually not do things sometimes because it wasn't due for a month or so when they could have pushed me a lot more.
Advice
Your boss and your manager are your friend, use them, even after you leave, they will help you.

Pharmacy Technician
March 2016 • Niagara Falls, NY
What I liked
I love the people that I work with and enjoy the challenges that come along with my position. Being an accounting major, this position never fails to make me think! Also, the connections that I’ve made with some customers are one of a kind. I feel so rewarded and fulfilled in what I do.
What I wish was different
I wish that I had been able to ease up on myself when I could not figure something out at work. I would take it kind of hard if something really stumped me.
Advice
One piece of advice that I would share is to never give up. I know it’s clique, but this job will always be difficult. It certainly is not a mindless job! It will take time to become comfortable in the pharmacy environment.

What I liked
Amazing people that pushed me to improve myself throughout my experience at Wegmans. Had weekly performance reviews to catch up my supervisor on my projects and to help me with my skill improvements.
What I wish was different
Was a very slow start. Took weeks to get any big projects.
Advice
Be prepared to ask questions about WHY you are doing a project for someone. Find out the root cause of problems to find the best solution, not just what people ask you to do.

Pharmacy Technician
August 2019 • Geneseo, NY
What I liked
I got to learn all about what goes on in a pharmacy which was cool and helpful in my decision to go on to grad school in that field
What I wish was different
Training could have been a little slower, there is sooo much to learn all at once. It took several weeks to get caught up but I find the job enjoyable and very manageable after everything clicked.
Advice
Be patient with the training, it is a ton to learn and new situational cases always pop up. Everyone is there to help and it is the perfect example of how busy a pharmacy is and what is expected of employees.
