Inbound Team

June 2019 • Christiansburg, VA

What I liked

The pay is a huge plus.

What I wish was different

The hours were terrible at times. Some overnight shifts and starting work at 4am.

Advice

You will gain real workplace experience in a low-pressure situation. Everyone at Target gets paid a minimum of $13 an hour, so choose your department wisely.

Shipping and Receiving Clerk

October 2018 • Cuyahoga Falls, OH

What I liked

I like the pace of the job. I also am interacting with a variety of individuals which to me is extremely beneficial to what my degree is.

What I wish was different

Possibly leadership. The management is not as setup as they should be. They spend more time in the office rather than contributing to a team effort.

Advice

If you are looking to sort of take on your own leadership role and have independence in a job this is a good fit because you are pretty much on your own to complete what you are given task wise.

What I liked

I loved the people I work with and I enjoy getting to interact with customers. I’m a part of the retail department so I get to help customers find clothing and sometimes makeup. I get to make a personal connection with them by helping them find what they need.

What I wish was different

I wish that my team and I would’ve had some more chances to really work as a team in certain duties.

Advice

I would say take it one day at a time. One day you could have a great shift and then another day a customer could rub you the wrong way. You can’t let that one bad day effect your attitude towards your job because most of the time its so much fun.

What I liked

My coworkers and the superiors.

What I wish was different

The understanding of asking for time off.

Advice

Take care of yourself first. Work is hard to find and sometimes you need the money but it's better that you give yourself time and space instead of stressing for a temporary job.

Executive Team Leader Intern

June - August 2019 • New Port Richey, FL

What I liked

I liked the team that trained me, my mentor was amazing, and I loved getting the inside scoop on Target business operations. The work environment was really upbeat, there was always something to do. I learned that being an ETL (Executive Team Leader) at Target is not a 9-5 M-F job.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more time in certain areas of the store with my training but overall my experience was perfect.

Advice

My piece of advice for this experience would be to go into this and give it everything you got. I really challenged myself to take on an internship for leadership / management and I learned and did things that I did not know I was capable of.

Cashier

July 2018 • Culver City, CA

What I liked

Everyone welcomed me and no one had an issue with the amount of questions I had. It’s my first job and I can honestly say it’s better than what I expected.

What I wish was different

I’m still in school so I wish the pay was up just to help me more financially.

Advice

Definitely find a right balance between work and school. Part time job is just money to have for the moment but you’re in school to build a career for yourself.

What I liked

It was a great experience getting to know every aspect of what it takes to manage a Target store. I also enjoyed getting to work with such a fun and dedicated team.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have spent some more time trying to lead new teams after I learned the basics of each department. This leadership time was limited throughout.

beauty specialist

July - September 2019 • Santa Rosa, CA

What I liked

I liked the community that was built with employers and employees. I also liked that they had a variety of hours that fit your schedule during the Summer. The task were always straightforward.

What I wish was different

I wish I had started working there sooner and the background process didn't take so long. I wish the hiring process was a little more quicker because it took me about three weeks after being hired to start working.

Advice

I encourage people to apply not only to the register position but also to other positions. Some people may not know that there is more than just the register such as beauty and style.

Executive Team Leader Intern

June - August 2017 • San Jose, CA

What I liked

I loved the people that I worked with at Target! Everyone, including higher management, were so supportive and encouraging! I felt valued and gained so many leadership skills on the job!

What I wish was different

I wish that I had more time to dive deeper into the company and it's culture! Retail is so fast pace that it was sometimes hard to understand Target's processes and procedures. I also wish there were more team bonding events because I loved getting to know other Executives and the other interns!

Advice

I would say, don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zones and just take risks! If you throw yourself into your role and you are confident in your ability to succeed, you will!
