June 2016 • Shakopee, MN

What I liked

Honestly I don't really enjoy it anymore. It's just convenient for me. It used to be kind of fun, but now it's frustrating and monotonous.

What I wish was different

I wish they would stop changing procedures every other month. Just choose one way that you want us to stock shelves. Putting things out is so simple in concept and somehow corporate has made it a confusing nightmare and changes their mind on how best to do it all the time.

Advice

Working in retail sucks and working in the lowest paying position offered by a retail company is the worst of all. You get the worst of all experiences - bratty customers, low pay, management that doesn't know what they're doing because the turnaround rate is disgustingly high and an unfeeling corporation that doesn't actually care about any of that nonsense.

General Merchandise Expert

April - October 2019 • Marquette, MI

What I liked

I liked how understanding everyone was, and I really appreciated my lead, Lindsey, for being supportive and friendly. Everyone was very helpful.

What I wish was different

I wish the job hadn’t caused as much stress as it did for me. It was really a fun place to work, but I felt very challenged to keep up most days. In the end, it just wasn’t the job for me.

Advice

Go in to the job knowing and understanding your expectations. You will be expected to work at a quick pace and you will have to learn a lot. If you enjoy a fast-paced job that keeps you moving throughout the day, it’ll be a good job for you. And one more thing—if a job doesn’t fulfill you, you aren’t doing yourself or your employer any favors by staying. Go find something that will be fulfilling. It’s okay to try a job and leave if it doesn't fit your needs.

Trainer

June 2018 • Dardenne, MO

What I liked

I appreciate the fun and friendly atmosphere of my Target! It is a pleasure to work with my team and the management has always been easy to work with. The job pays well and I have made great memories with my friends here!

What I wish was different

I wish that I would have spent more time working over my Summers there. I would often cut my hours short by limiting my time, but it is important to try to accumulate funds over the Summer to help pay for the school year. Try to make the most of your Summers by working and accumulating a savings.

Advice

Positivity is key with any new job. Do not allow a poor attitude to get in the way of an experience.

Target Security Specialist

March 2020 • Cincinnati, OH

What I liked

What I like about this job is that it gives me the opportunity to directly make a positive impact on the shopping experience of our guests by ensuring that the store is safe and minimizing merchandise loss.

What I wish was different

Advice

I was apprehensive about starting this job because it was unlike any other I had before. However, I took my positive mindset and work ethic into the job and eventually hit my stride with it. My advice is to get out of your comfort zone as soon as you can because it could pay off in a big way. Don't let apprehensiveness keep you from taking a job or doing anything you wish to do.
